Ericsson has released its latest Ericsson Mobility report. This report states that by the year 2026, 4 out of 10 smartphones will have 5G connectivity. Apart from this, the report also states that by the end of this year i.e. 2020, more than 1 billion people will have access to 5G coverage.
15% of the world’s population has 5G
According to the report, 100 crore, or 15% of the world’s total population, will have access to 5G coverage. This does not mean that 100 crore people will be using 5G connectivity but it means that 15 percent of the world’s population will be living in an area with 5G connectivity.
60 percent near 5G by 2026
The report also claimed that 60 percent of the people will live in 5G coverage area by the year 2026, while by this time 5G subscriptions can reach 3.5 billion i.e. 350 crore.
How many people have 5G in India?
According to an Ericsson report, 27% of the total smartphone users in India will have a 5G subscription by the year 2026. That is, after 6 years, the LTE network will remain in India. About 63 percent users will have LTE network subscription. In India, Internet consumption has increased considerably due to work from home.
