Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday canceled the 26th Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) by January 2021 in the wake of the Covid-19epidemic. The KIFF was to be held from 5 to 12 November.
Banerjee tweeted on Thursday, “After obtaining the consent of the global film fraternity, I here inform all stakeholders of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) and cine lovers that our festival has been rescheduled.”

CM said that now the film festival will be held from 8-15 January next year. “Let’s start preparing,” she said.
Sources in the state’s Information and Culture Department said that the KIFF committee is working hard to make it a physical event rather than a virtual film festival.
KIFF is held every year in Kolkata to screen several domestic and international films from around the world. Many prominent Bollywood celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and others take part in the iconic event held every day in the city of Nandan.
