1. Fishing Scams:
Fraudsters send the link of unauthorized payment to users via SMS. It contains a fake URL. If the user clicks on this link sent by Fraudster, then it asks you to select any UPI app present in your phone and redirects to it. As soon as you give permission, the amount is automatically debited from your account.
2. Remote screen mirroring tool:
Nowadays work from home has started trending. In such a situation, nowadays people download remote screen mirroring tools so that their phone can be connected with a laptop. Not all apps on Google Play or the App Store are verified or authentic. In such a situation, once you download an unverified app, it takes all the information from your phone and takes complete control over the device. With this, your money along with your information can also be stolen.
3. Misuse of UPI on social media:
Many times people create social media pages with names like NPCI, BHIM, bank or any government institutions. People also consider them right. This is how account handles are created by fraudsters to reveal the details of your account through fake UPI app.
4. Scams done by OTP, UPI PIN:
Whenever you make payment through any UPI app, you either choose OTP or UPI PIN. The bank sends OTP to your registered mobile number through OTP authentication. Only after entering it, your payment is completed. In such a situation, if any of the fraudsters have controlled your phone, then it can prove to be dangerous for you.
