The three captains of the South African cricket teams issued a joint statement expressing deep concern over the possible suspension from the International Cricket Council (ICC) in view of the ongoing crisis in Cricket South Africa (CSA).
The players have said that if the current deadlock is not resolved, then South Africa may not be able to participate in the ICC T20 World Cup to be held in India in October-November.
He said, “At a time when we should have been excited about the future, we are worried about the future of (sports).”
The captains said in a statement, “South Africa’s men have to play in the ICC T20 World Cup in November. The current state of cricket administration is affecting our preparations. If the ICC decides to suspend South Africa, then we may have to get out of this tournament.
There remains a deadlock between the CSA members’ council and the interim board. It was likely to go away at the special general meeting to be held on Saturday but it did not happen.
