West Indies batsman Chris Gayle has recently taken a dig at all-rounder Shahid Afridi. Gayle has targeted the lack of consistency in Afridi’s performance with the bat. Both the cricketers are currently playing for different franchises in the Pakistan Super League. While Shahid is playing for Multan Sultan, Gayle is part of Quetta Gladiator captained by Sarfraz Ahmed.
Chris Gayle recently chatted with Geo Super. During this time he gave some tips to youngsters aspiring to make a career in power-hitting. He said that the strategy of hitting six is that you understand the ‘game situation’ and try to break the game ‘stage by stage’.
Gayle, 41, also trolled Shahid Afridi during this period. Afridi, who has been known to hit big shots, followed Gayle on the mark. When Gayle was asked why there is such a lack of consistency in the performance of Pakistani batsmen when it comes to power-hitting, Gayle said, “Maybe they are following Shahid Afridi.”
The two-time T20 World Cup winning captain said that instead of attempting to hit a six off every ball, a batsman should target a bowler and accordingly try to score as many runs on that bowler.
