AUS vs IND: Rishabh Pant or Wriddhiman Saha, who will get a chance in the day-night test?

Wriddhiman Saha or Rishabh Pant, who will get a chance in the first Test match in Adelaide starting on 17 December, is not decided but it is a matter of discussion at the moment. It is not yet decided which of the better batsmen in the form of Saha or Pant can get a place in the team.

Team management did not open cards

The Indian team management has not opened its cards yet and when asked about this, Hanuma Vihari also said that ‘healthy competition’ is good for the team. It is believed that Saha’s better wicketkeeping and defensive batting may be preferred.

Pant and Saha’s performance will be assessed

Coach Ravi Shastri, captain Virat Kohli, assistant coach Vikram Rathore, Bharat Arun and selector Harvinder Singh will assess the performance of both of them based on the circumstances of the match. It is believed that Saha’s wicketkeeping and defensive batting may be preferred over Pant’s aggressive batting.

Saha saved from defeat in first practice match

Wriddhiman Saha saved India from a defeat against Australia A by playing a crucial innings of 54 runs in the first practice match before the Australia Test series. He then faced bowlers like James Pattinson, Michael Naser and Cameron Green.

Pant hit a century, then there was no edge in Australian bowling

In contrast, when Rishabh Pant scored a century in the second practice match, the Indian team was in a better position and faced leg-spinner Mitchell Swapson and improvised bowler Nick Madinson. Former Australia captain Alan Border described the bowling performance of Australia A as shameful.

Such a career

Talking of his career so far, Saha has scored 1238 runs in 37 Test matches, including three centuries. He has taken 92 catches and 11 stumps out. Pant has so far scored a total of 814 runs in 13 Tests with 2 centuries, 2 half-centuries. Even if Saha makes it to the first Test match, Pant’s chances are not lost. Saha will have to perform well not only behind the wicket but also in front of the wicket to stay in the team.
