Gavaskar believes that resentment among the fans is natural due to the Indian innings being reduced to 36 in the first Test. Gavaskar also feels that the Indian team gave up a lot of catches in the first Test, which led to a 53-run lead.
He said, “If we would have caught the catch and put the fielders in the right place, there would have been no problem, Tim Paine and Marnus Labuschen would have been out early. We could get a 120-run lead. Australia were able to bounce back due to these dripping catches and restricted India’s lead to 50 runs.
