- Australia scored 194 for 5 in the second T20 match of the series against India
- Australia’s captaincy Matthew Wade made 58 runs in place of Aaron Finch
- Spinner Chahal gave 51 runs in four overs in this match and he had only one wicket to his name.
- Young Pacer T Natarajan impressed, taking 2 wickets for 20 runs in 4 overs
Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was included by the Indian team management as Ravindra Jadeja’s concussion substitute in the first match of the T20 series against Australia. Chahal took three wickets for 25 runs in four overs in his last match. Thanks to Chahal’s performance, India saved the score of 161 runs. Captain Virat Kohli was quite happy with his performance of this leg-spinner but the picture changed in the second match of the series on Sunday.
Chahal, the hero of the last match, appeared ineffective in Sydney. Chahal conceded 51 runs from four overs in this match, with just one wicket to his name. Chahal was not in color at all. His line and length were also deteriorated, which the Australian batsmen took full advantage of. Captain Kohli was also annoyed by this performance of Chahal’s bowling. There was also anger on Kohli’s face.
See, Virat missed the catch of Wade, but did not make the mistake of running out
It was the second ball of the 16th over when Steve Smith of Australia decided to go ahead with Chahal’s ball and play the shot. Chahal however dodged them in the flight. Smith was not close to the ball but decided to play the shot. Virat Kohli was fielding on long on. The ball went over the boundary line from above Kohli. After this, Kohli looked angry with this bowler.
At one end from which Chahal was bowled, the boundary of one side was small and the other side was quite large. Perhaps Kohli expected his bowler to play the ball on a shorter length, which would make it harder for the batsman to play a big shot and hit the ball outside the field, but as Chahal’s length was full, the captain was furious. However, Chahal did not make much of a mistake on that ball as he dodged the batsman with his spin.
Earlier, Kohli decided to bowl first after winning the toss. Australia’s team landed in this match without captain Aaron Finch. David Warner is already out of the series. Apart from this, fast bowler Mitchell Starc is also not playing in this match. Acting captain Matthew Wade scored 58 runs. Steve Smith scored 46 runs.
