The players of India and England have started their training for the Test Day-Night Test match to be played at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera from 24 February and they have also shared some pictures and videos of their training on social media. With a capacity of one lakh 10 thousand, this stadium has become the largest cricket stadium in the world. All tickets are sold out.
An international match will be played at this stadium for the first time since November 2014. England won the first Test to take a 1–0 lead in the series, but hosts India won the second Test by 317 runs and made it 1–1 in the series. Both the initial Tests were played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has shared a video on Trivatar, in which Ben Stokes was seen practicing fast bowling.
“Some stadiums are like this and local music helped throughout the day,” Stokes said. Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant shared a photograph of himself at the gym with captain Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Ishant Sharma and local player Akshar Patel saying, ‘Our first gym training session with the team at Motera Stadium. Great for a new facility in Motera, it is great to see such world class facilities for cricket in Ahmedabad. It is expected to land here on the 24th.
The administration has approved 50 per cent spectators to the stadium for the third Test. England have to play two Tests and five T20 matches here. Indian selectors have announced their 17-member squad for the third Test. Fast bowler Shardul Thakur has been released for Vijay Hazare Trophy and now Umesh Yadav will be included in the Indian team in his place.
