“Bollywood Wives” was announced by Bhandarkar in 2016 and film project work is underway. Meanwhile, Johar has announced the creation of a web series, “The Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives”.
Bhandarkar tweeted on Friday that he had already refused Karan Johar’s production house, Apoorva Mehta of Dharma Productions, to participate with the title.
“Dear @karanjohar U & @ apoorvamehta18 asked me 4 title #BollywoodWives for the web, which I declined, as my project is on. It is morally and morally wrong to tweak #TheFabulousLivesofBollywoodWives . Pls don’t dent my project. I politely request u to change the title, “Bhandarkar tweeted.
In 2016, Bhandarkar shared that he was planning to make a film on the lives of Bollywood wives. The National Award-winning filmmaker, who is known for showing real-life issues through his films, thanked Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar for helping him in this context.
Bhandarkar had posted on Twitter, thanking @ritesh_sid & @faroutakhtar for giving us @BitesarkarEntertainment, Bollywood Wives.
Meanwhile, Jauhar’s web series “Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives” features the wives of famous stars such as Maheep Kapoor, Neelam Kothari, Seema Khan and Bhavna Pandey. It is supported by Zohar’s Dharmatic Entertainment, the digital arm of Dharma Productions.
Bhandarkar is known for directing films such as “Chandni Bar”, “Page 3”, “Traffic Signal” and “Fashion”. However, her last Bollywood outing, “Calendar Girls” and “Indu Sarkar” crashed at the box office.
