Meghna Gulzar’s film ‘Chhapak’ is very much in discussion at the time of her announcement. In the film, Deepika Padukone has been seen in the role of Laxmi Aggarwal, an attack attack survivor. Now on January 10, Deepika’s film has been released. The film has grossed around Rs 4.25 crore on the first day at the box office.
According to the report published in boxofficeindia.com, Meghna Gulzar’s film was expected to earn around 6 crores on Opening Day, but it could only earn 4.25 crores. According to the report, most of the film’s earnings have been in multiplexes. Just before the film’s release, it appeared to be stuck in a legal tussle. Actually, Laxmi Aggarwal’s lawyer Aparna Bhatt was so upset that she reached the court due to not giving herself credit in the film. He said that he has handled Laxmi Agarwal’s case in real life for years and film makers also took many information from him before the film, but he was not given credit. Now the Delhi High Court has ordered the makers to give them credit.
Meghna Gulzar’s quality as a director is that she has kept the story realistic. Nowhere does the tragedy of the acid attack be melodramatic or sensational. Meghna, who has directed successful and thought-provoking films like Talwar and Raji, has shot it as a documentary drama. Meghna also seems to attack the traditional notion of beauty. Apart from Deepika Padukone in the film, there are many actors like Vikrant Messi, Madhurjit Sargi, Ankit Bisht, Delzad Hiwale, Govind Singh Sandhu.
