Ashok Singh, who coached players like veteran batsman VVS Laxman and Andhra wicketkeeper MSK Prasad, died on Monday due to illness. Ashok Singh’s family member gave this information.
He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter. Ashok’s son Anand said that his father had coached middle-order batsman Laxman from 1998 until the time of his retirement.

Anand Singh said, ‘He had a brain cancer surgery last year. After this, he was fine for 14 months. He also said that he coached many players at different levels for 30 years.
Laxman expressed grief over this. He tweeted, ‘Big loss for me. Ashok Bhai was not only my coach, but was like my elder brother. He was a combative coach who always inspired me to do better. I will miss you very much Ashok bhai, may God rest your soul. ‘
