Chennai Super Kings, captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, defeated Kings XI Punjab by 9 wickets in the IPL-13 match on Sunday. With this defeat, Lokesh Rahul’s team was eliminated from the tournament. This was the final match of the league stage for both teams.
Punjab scored 153 for 6 wickets in 20 overs with the help of Deepak Hooda (62 *) half-century after which Chennai achieved the target in 18.5 overs thanks to an unbeaten half-century from Ruturaj Gaikwad (62 *).

After the defeat, Rahul said, ‘We didn’t bat really well. There was a lot of pressure in the match and we expected 180-190 on the board, unfortunately we were unable to work on our strategy. Disappointed but IPL goes on like this.
Rahul further said, ‘It is unfortunate that the result of the match was not in our favor but the team is proud. Hopefully, it will come back strong again next year. Forgetting this year, because if you look back, we could have won a few matches. It was our fault. All make mistakes and we have achieved something this season. We need to accept it, learn from it and get stronger. ‘
He said, ‘The first half of the league did not yield results in our favor. Then we had difficulties in batting and bowling. We started doing well in the second half and really proud that we gave ourselves a chance to be in the top-4. ‘ Rahul is an Orange Cap holder so far this season and scored 670 runs.
