DC vs RCB Highlights: Bangalore beat Delhi, yet both teams qualify for playoffs

After a fine performance by the bowlers, Delhi Capitals defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets on Monday with the help of half-centuries from Ajinkya Rahane (60) and opener Shikhar Dhawan (54). With this victory, the Delhi team qualified for the playoffs with 16 points while Bangalore scored the playoffs on the basis of better net run rate with 14 points.

Bangalore, led by Virat Kohli, captained by Virat Kohli at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, scoring 152 for 7 wickets in 20 overs, after which Delhi lost 4 wickets in 19 overs with the help of half-centuries from Ajinkya Rahane (60) and Shikhar Dhawan (54). Only achieved this goal. Delhi’s paceman Enrique Nortje was the man of the match, taking 3 wickets.

Bangalore gave 153 target to Delhi
Despite AB De Villiers’s fine innings after the battling half-century of opener Devadatta Padikkal, the Royal Challengers Bangalore team could only manage 152 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Padikkal scored an innings of 50 runs while De Villiers scored 35 runs off 21 balls with two sixes and a four. Captain Virat Kohli also scored 29 runs. The team however struggled to increase the run pace throughout the innings.

Dhawan and Rahane’s fifties
Delhi opener Shikhar Dhawan again looked in form and hit a half-century off 37 balls. He shared an excellent 88-run partnership for the second wicket with Ajinkya Rahane (60). Dhawan scored 54 runs with the help of 6 fours off 41 balls, Shahbad became the victim of Ahmed. Dhawan has also scored 2 centuries in the current season. Rahane also played a brilliant innings of 60 runs and was caught by Shivam Dubey off Washington Sundar in the 18th over of the innings. Rahane hit 5 fours and 1 six off 46 balls. Captain Shreyas Iyer (7) also became a victim of Shahbaz Ahmed. Rishabh Pant returned unbeaten after scoring 8 and Marcus Stoynes 10.

Prithvi Sau again flopped
Chasing a target of 153, the Delhi team got the first blow early and Pacer Mohammad Siraj took a wicket in his very first over (second of the innings). Delhi opener Prithvi Shaw (9) proved to be a flop again and was bowled by Siraj on his Shadar inswinger. He hit 2 fours in his short innings of 6 balls.

Rabada made Philip a victim
Delhi captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first, after which the bowlers did not allow the opening pair of Josh Phillip and Paddikal to play openly. The first four innings of the innings was struck by Phillip in the third over of Daniel Semes, while in the next over, Padikkal also hit a four off Norte. For Delhi, Enrique Nortje took 3 wickets for 33 runs while Pacer Kagiso Rabada took 2 wickets for 30 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin bowled economically and took Virat Kohli’s wicket for 18 runs.
