The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) rejected the application of former Indian player Kirti Azad for the post of state team selector following which veteran Bishan Singh Bedi filed an official complaint with the Lokpal. While DDCA has not given any official reason for rejecting the application, it was found that Azad’s application was rejected for two reasons.
First he is 61 years old. The DDCA may not have decided any age, but they want the selectors to be below 60 years of age. Second Azad was earlier DDCA selector till 2002-04. At the same time he was also the national selector from North Zone.
A close friend of Azad said the condition of confidentiality, ‘Bishan Paji has officially raised this issue with the DDCA Lokpal because those who have submitted their candidature do not reject Kirti (Azad) application on any basis Can. He is a Test cricketer and a World Cup winner.
According to sources, former opener Ashu Dani, leg-spinner Chaitanya Nanda and former coach Bhaskar Pillai are in the race to be the selectors. As far as coach position is concerned, Virat Kohli’s childhood coaches Rajkumar Sharma and Manoj Prabhakar are in the race.
