A Mumbai court on Tuesday (November 10) granted bail to Shabana Saeed, wife of filmmaker Feroz Nadiadwala, who was allegedly arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau from her home during a raid on Ganja. The drug law enforcement agency arrested Saeed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on Sunday (8 November) after raiding his residence in Juhu.
According to a PTI report, the court granted him bail on a personal bond of Rs 15,000. His lawyer argued before Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate AH Kashiskar that his client was not a drug peddler and only small amounts of drugs were seized from his place. He also told the court that Shabana Saeed has separated from Feroze Nadiadwala and has to take care of her children.
The NCB summoned Feroze Nadiadwala for questioning in the drugs case. The ‘Welcome’ producer appeared before the agency on Monday (9 November) and recorded his statement in the drugs recovery case.
In a major crackdown on drug peddlers, the agency raided Mumbai’s Malad, Lokhandwala, Koparkhairane, Kharghar and Andheri and arrested five people including Saeed.
The NCB has intensified its investigation into the alleged Bollywood drugs case, which stemmed from the case of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. The federal agency called Arjun Rampal and his girlfriend Gabriela Demetriades after raiding his residence on 9 November. NCB officials seized electronic gadgets from Rampal’s place and asked him to appear before him on Wednesday (11 November).
The Narcotics Control Bureau had earlier questioned Bollywood actresses Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan in a drug-related case. During the investigation, Deepika’s name surfaced after an alleged WhatsApp chat with former manager Karishma Prakash. Prakash was again called by the NCB for questioning on 10 November.
