The International Cricket Council (ICC) has postponed the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia this year due to the corona virus. The ICC also announced that the 50-over World Cup to be held in 2023 will now be played in India. This change has been made to keep only the essential difference between the tournaments of 2022 and 2023 that India may get to host both the tournaments.
India is set to host the 2021 T20 World Cup. However, due to the postponement of the 2020 T20 World Cup to be held in Australia, they have requested the ICC to hand over the rights to the 2021 edition to them, while the 2022 edition can be handed over to India. A member of the ICC board said that the ICC has not yet announced the venue of the 2021 and 2022 T20 World Cups, as to whether to hand over Australia the right to host next year's tournament in India or not. It has not been decided yet.

India, Australia will have to decide together
When contacted a BCCI official said that this would be a decision that both Indian and Cricket Australia would have to take together. “The BCCI and CA share a very strong relationship and any decision in this regard will be taken only after taking each other into confidence and after discussion between the two boards,” the official said. After the postponement of 20 World Cups, the BCCI can now announce the dates of the 13th edition of the IPL soon.
