Borussia Monshenglabakh striker Marcus Thuram has been banned for spitting in the face of an opposition player during a match at the Bundesliga Football Tournament. During the match, Thuram threw a spit in the face of a Hofenheim team player, due to which he has been banned for five matches.

The German Football Federation said on Monday that the ban would apply in the German Cup and the Bundesliga. There will also be a suspended match ban on Thuram which will depend on the condition of good behavior till 21 December 2021.

Thuram later wrote a post on social media and also apologized for his actions.

Thuram spit in the face of defender Stephen Posh after a debate about tackles. Match referee Frank Willenberg sent Thurum out of the field after watching the video and showed Posh a yellow card.
