Mumbai: During the lockdown last year, a mini food truck named ‘Being Hangri’ by Salman Khan’s ‘Being Human Foundation’ reached various places in Mumbai and provided essential goods to millions of needy people. But now the ‘Radhey’ actor’s foundation has taken the initiative to take care of the police and other frontline activists at all places in Mumbai amidst the growing cases of COVID-19.
ABP News had earlier revealed how this mini food truck is roaming in different areas every day to deliver ration items to the common people. Once again, our eyes fell on the mini food truck. This time the focus of the food truck is to provide food to frontline workers who are serving the country to protect people from the new wave of coronovirus. They are being provided with various types of snacks, tea and bottled water every evening.
ABP News caught policemen from Bandra to Juhu on the north side and Bandra to Worli in the south carrying the truck carrying canned food in paper bags.
ABP News reached the spot and spoke to Rahul Kanal, who is overseeing this initiative of NGOs named ‘Being Human Foundation’ and ‘I Love Mumbai’ and Gyaneshwar Ganore, Senior Police Inspector at Santacruz Police Station.
Rahul Kanal said, “Last time in Mumbai, our focus was to reach as many needy, poor and hungry people as possible. But this time, along with Mumbai Police, we are trying to give relief to the medical staff and BMC staff through breakfast and tea. “
From 5 pm to 10 pm daily, this food truck has been serving snacks to policemen and other frontline workers at more than 100 locations in Mumbai for the last four days.
Speaking to ABP News, Senior Police Inspector Ganore expressed happiness that ‘Being Human Foundation’ is taking special care of the policemen in this way. He said, “Policemen are struggling day and night on the streets to strictly implement the Corona guidelines. In such a situation, we wholeheartedly thank Salman and Rahul for this unique initiative to provide breakfast, tea and water to hungry thirsty policemen. “
Rahul further revealed, “Salman got the idea to bring breakfast to the policemen from his father Salim Khan and mother Salma Khan. The police, who are performing their duty near Salman’s house ‘Galaxy Apartment’ in Bandra, are being given daily food by Salim and Salma Khan. Salman Khan wondered why not give breakfast to all the policemen and frontline employees of Mumbai daily. It is only the result of that. “
Rahul Kanal said that during the lockdown last year, about 2 lakh people were provided with pulses, rice, flour, oil etc. in 4 months through this food truck.
Rahul said, “As long as there is a lockout in Mumbai, we will continue to provide relief to all the policemen of Mumbai and the rest of the frontline employees.”
