Bollywood actor Ranvir Shorey took to social media to condemn the violence at the Red Fort in Delhi during a tractor rally on Tuesday (January 26). The ‘Traffic Signal’ actor responded to another user, who called him to ‘sit comfortably in his room’ and commented on the matter. Ranveer said that he would sit in his AC room and then commit violence on Republic Day. “I’d rather sit comfortably in my AC room, then riot and sabotage in the capital on Republic Day more than the laws made by an elected government. Shore posted another tweet retweeting a video on the micro-blogging site. He wrote, “That too on Republic Day! Farmers are not above the nation!”
Several other tinsel town celebs, including Swara Bhaskar and Vishal Dadlani, also condemned the violence and said it was unacceptable. Dadlani, who is currently seen as a judge in ‘Indian Idol 12’, tweeted, “Violence on both sides is unacceptable. Especially when we are all on the same side. “
Swara Bhaskar posted a ‘heart-breaking’ emoji on Twitter to express her anger. He also retweeted Rahul Gandhi’s tweet in which he insisted that violence was not the solution to any issue.
Many political leaders including Rahul Gandhi, Shashi Tharoor have also mourned the violence on social media. The farmers have been opposing the newly created agricultural laws since 26 November.
