Former India opener Gautam Gambhir has said that the embarrassing loss to Adelaide will hurt the Indian team but he should not forget that he dominated the first two seasons of the first Test. India scored 53 runs in the first innings in the Adelaide Test, but Australia won by eight wickets in the second innings, bowling them out for their minimum test score of 36 runs.
Gambhir said on the Star Sports show ‘Cricket Connected’, “The Indian team should remember that it dominated the first two days. He had a hold on the match on the first two days. He said, “He will be sad for a season but he has to remember that there are three Test matches to be played and he does not have his best player and captain Virat Kohli.”
He said, ‘Ajinkya will be very strong on Rahane. Mohammed Shami is also not in the team and will have to see how the team combination goes. Earlier, Gambhir had said that India should get down with five bowlers and Rahane should bat at number four. He also advocated the inclusion of KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and Shubman Gill in the playing XI.
