Former Punjab Kings batsman Glenn Maxwell was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for Rs 14.25 crore in an auction released in Chennai on Thursday for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season. Maxwell’s base price was Rs 2 crore. With this, Maxi’s dream of playing with South African explosive batsman AB de Villiers is also going to be fulfilled.
After the sale, Glenn Maxwell tweeted that he would help the franchise fulfill its dream of winning the trophy. He wrote- I am eager to join RCB this season. I will try my best to win the trophy to the team.
In fact, Maxwell recently said, ‘I would love to join Bangalore in the IPL. De Villiers is my idol and I always try to watch his batting. It will be a pleasure to work with de Villiers. He has always helped me in my career. Maxwell had said, “It would be nice to play under Kohli’s leadership and bat with him and if that happens, I will enjoy it.”

Maxwell was the highest bidder for Kolkata Knight Riders by Rs 3 crore. But Royal Challengers Bangalore also again started bidding on Maxwell and after this Chennai Super Kings started bidding with Rs six crore and then Rajasthan Royals also jumped in the bid. Chennai had bid Maxwell up to Rs 11.50 crore.

Then RSB went further and then CSK agreed to buy Maxwell for 13.5 crores. But RCB then joined Maxwell with a bid of Rs 14.25 crore. Maxwell was released by the Punjab Kings for the new season.
