Happy birthday AB de Villiers: ‘Superman’ of South Africa, who has made many records in cricket

Former South African captain and legendary batsman, AB De Villiers is celebrating his 37th birthday today i.e. on 17 February 2021. He is also called as the Superman of South Africa because of his speed, quickness and firecrackers.

Born on 17 February 1984 in Pretoria, South Africa, AB played international cricket for South Africa but he was also seen representing the teams in the world and in many T20 leagues. Also known as Virat Kohli’s best friend, AB also plays in the IPL from his team RCB. He retired from international cricket in the year 2018.

Record for fastest century
AB holds the record for fastest century in ODIs. He scored a century off just 31 balls and scored 149 runs in that match. He also has a half-century record in 16 balls in ODIs. He has also won the ICC ODI Player of the Year award three times.

AB played 114 Tests, 228 ODIs and 78 T20 Internationals in a career. In Tests, he scored a total of 8765 runs with the help of 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries. His best score is 278 not out, which he scored in 2010 against Pakistan. In ODIs, he scored a total of 9577 runs which includes 25 centuries and 53 half-centuries. At the same time, T20 International scored 1672 runs with the help of 10 half-centuries. He also took 9 wickets in international career.

Can participate in T20 World Cup?
AB de Villiers, who surprised everyone with his sudden retirement in 2018, is being speculated that he may return and take part in the T20 World Cup this year.
