In the Colombo Test, Team India was in constant trouble from one end. The process of falling wickets from the first over started, reaching 180 runs and went for 7 wickets. Pujara was opening here and he did not give a wicket to the Lankan side from the end of the innings. Except Pujara, none of the Indian batsmen touched the 30-run mark. 202 vs Australia, Ranchi, 2017
This was the third Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Australia, playing first here, hit 451 runs thanks to the centuries of captain Smith and Maxwell. In response, Pujara also showed his jauhar and scored a double century (202) in a 525-ball innings. In this innings, he hit 21 fours and played a partnership of (117) 199 runs with Riddhimana Saha. India scored 603 runs in the first innings to take a 152-run lead in the first innings. In the second innings, Australia declared the innings at 204/6. The match was drawn and Pujara was declared man of the match.
132 * vs England, Southhampton, 2018
Team India was on a difficult tour of England. In this fourth Test match, England were all out at 246 in the first innings. But in this match, apart from Virat Kohli (46 & 58) and Pujara (132 & 5), no batsman could sustain the pitch. Team India had lost 8 wickets by adding 195 runs in the first innings. In the end, Pujara, along with the tail batsmen, brought the team’s score to 273 and gave Team India a 27-run lead. England had set a target of 246 runs in front of India in the second innings, but if Pujara failed in the second innings, then Team India could not save this match. India lost the match by 60 runs. The team lost 4–1 in this series.
123 vs Australia, Adelaide, 2018
After the tour of England, Team India set out on a climb to Australia. The Indian team had never won a Test series here. Pujara made his intentions clear by scoring a century in the first Test itself. This time Team India did not want to return empty-handed from Australia. Team India’s opening pair flopped in Adelaide, then Pujara took the support. Pujara scored 123 and helped Team India score 250 before being run out as the 9th wicket. The Indian team gave Australia a target of 322 runs in the fourth innings. In India’s second innings, Pujara once again hit 71 runs. Team India finally won this Test by 31 runs and took a 1-0 lead in the series. Pujara became the man of the match.
193 vs Australia, Sydney, 2019
This was the last Test of India’s tour of Australia and Team India reached Sydney with a 2–1 lead. In this Test, India won the toss and batted first and put the host team under pressure by scoring 622 / 7d runs on the scoreboard. In this match, Pujara hit 193 runs with the help of 22 fours. In response, the Kangaroos’ first innings was reduced to 300 runs. India fed him a follow-on. Kangaroo team could not stop India from creating history by drawing this test due to rain here. Team India won the Test series for the first time in Kangaruland (2-1). Pujara became the man of the match in this match. Pujara also won the Man of the Series title after hitting 3 centuries in the series. After this, India has repeated that feat under the leadership of Ajinkya Rahane in 2020-21.
