Happy Birthday Glenn McGrath: The batsmen used to fear, every Test wicket is remembered

new Delhi
Today is the 51st birthday of Glenn McGrath, one of the most famous fast bowlers in the world. Born on February 9, 1970, McGrath continued to harass batsmen around the world with his accuracy. McGrath’s pace, line and length, for 14 years troubled the top batsmen. During his career, he made many records. He was an important part of the Australian team whose stopping the victory chariot was not easy. McGrath made his debut in 1993 and played international cricket until 2007. Know special things about him on his birthday today …

McGrath has 381 wickets in One Day International. He is ranked seventh in this list. But talking about World Cups, he has taken 71 wickets in it, which is still a record. The Australian team won the World Cup in 1999, 2003 and 2007 and McGrath was an important part of this team.

Talking about the list of fast bowlers, he is the most successful fast bowler in all formats (Test, ODI and T20 International). He has taken a total of 949 wickets. He has 563 Tests in Tests, 381 ODIs and 5 wickets in T20 International.

Overall, the most successful bowler in all formats is Sri Lanka’s fourth most successful bowler after Muttiah Muralitharan (1347), Shane Warne (1001) and Indian Anil Kumble (956).

McGrath’s career did not start well. He averaged 43 in the first eight Tests. Because of this he was dropped from the team. But he was selected on the West Indies tour of 1994–95. McGraw’s career changed with this history tour.

How deadly McGrath was a bowler can be gauged from the fact that he used to target the top batsmen of the opposition team. He has dismissed England opener Mike Arthen 19 times in Test cricket, which is a record. Brian Lara has been hunted 13 times, which is much more than any other bowler.

In 2004-05, he made a half century in a Test match against New Zealand. McGrath’s performance with the bat was poor but he still remembers this innings. In 2007, he retired from international cricket. He had 563 Test wickets to his name. He helped Australia win the Ashes 5–0 against England. Won the World Cup, where he was the Man of the Tournament.

Remember all test wickets
McGrath remembers all his Test wickets. Yes, you tell them the number and they will tell you which batsman they had dismissed and how they were dismissed. McGrath was asked just the wicket number on the show during the match during India’s recent tour of Australia and he added exactly what batsman his number one wicket is, linking it to the series in the back-and-forth.
