Chinese smartphone company Huawei has reached the top position. Huawei overtook South Korean handset maker Samsung in the global smartphone market in the second quarter. This has been said in a report by Canalys. Huawei reached the top position with shipment of 5.58 million devices. However, the company's global shipments declined by 5 per cent year-on-year.
Samsung ships 5.37 crore smartphones
At the same time, Samsung has been at number two. Samsung shipped 5.37 crore devices in the second quarter of this year. Shipment decreased by 30 per cent over the second quarter of 2019. Canalys said in its report, “Huawei is currently under US government restrictions, which has affected the company's business outside China.” The report noted that Huawei's overseas shipments declined 27 percent in the second quarter.
