I thought he was a bit confused: Shoaib Akhtar on Rameez Raja’s first statement after becoming PCB chairman

New Delhi
Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has expressed his opinion on the appointment of Rameez Raja as the President of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Akhtar has been openly expressing his opinion on the changes taking place in Pakistan cricket for a long time now.

In a cricket show ‘Game On Hai’, he said that there may be confusion about some issues and its effect was visible in Rameez Raja’s words.

Akhtar said, ‘I think he looked a little confused while talking about his speech and some subjects. He wants Babar Azam to learn from Imran Khan and also he wants to keep an eye on Babar, it will not make him a fearless captain.

Akhtar feels that there will come a time when if something goes wrong with the team, Rameez Raja will deal strictly with the captain. The former pacer said that the Pakistan captain being fearless can get better results from the team and Raja should give his space to the captain.

‘Keep Babar the captain’
Along with this, Akhtar also advocated for Babar Azam to be retained as the captain. He said, ‘As I have seen Rameez bhai, he will deal strictly with Babar Azam. But I request him with folded hands that please do not remove him from the captaincy.

Babar has been made captain by Pakistan in all three formats. The recent times have not been very good for them. His team’s performance in England has been criticized. The 26-year-old Babar also faced a lot of criticism for his captaincy.

Rameez bhai needs to calm down a bit: Shoaib Akhtar
Raja spoke openly in the PCB office on the very first day itself. With the media, he candidly expressed his opinion on the future plans for the team. Akhtar, who often speaks openly himself, said that Raja needs to remain calm while handling such a huge responsibility.

Akhtar said, “The arrival of Rameez bhai is good for Pakistani cricket but he needs to calm down a bit. A tit-for-tat attitude with the media will not be the right decision for their role.

Rameez Raja was made the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board following an official statement on 13 September. Raja had made former Pakistan opener Matthew Hayden and former South African pacer Vernon Philander part of the Pakistani coaching staff as soon as he arrived.
