ICC T20 RANKINGS: Captain Virat Kohli gains one place, KL Rahul retains second

Indian cricketer Lokesh Rahul retained his second position in the batting list of the latest ICC T20 International rankings released on Wednesday, while captain Virat Kohli moved up one place to sixth. Rahul is behind England’s David Malan (915) by 816 points, who have retained their top position, while Kohli has 697 points. Pakistan captain Babar Azam (801) moved up one place to third.

Australia’s white ball captain Aaron Finch (788), on the other hand, slipped to fourth place. South Africa’s Von der Dussen (700) also moved up one place to fifth on the list. The updated rankings have changed significantly after the first two matches of the series between the two countries in New Zealand and Australia.

New Zealand’s Devon Conway scored an unbeaten 99 in the opening match, taking him 46 places to 17th after just eight matches, while opener Martin Guptill moved up three places to 11th with a 97-run knock. Australia’s Marcus Stoinis is ranked 110th, up by 77 places, and Matthew Wade at 118th.

There is no change in the top five places in the bowlers’ list, with Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan (736) topping it. No Indian is included in the top 10 bowlers. New Zealand’s Tim Southee finished sixth, Mitchell Santner seventh, Ish Sodhi 11th and Trent Boult 49th. Australia’s Jaye Richardson has re-entered the list from 115th place.
