ICC Test Rankings: Smith defeats Kohli in second place, Pant’s long jump

ICC Test Rankings: Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli has slipped to third place in the ICC Test batsmen rankings while Australia’s legendary batsman Steve Smith has moved up to second place.

Pujara reached eighth position
On the other hand, middle order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara, called ‘New Wall’ of Team India, has climbed two places to eighth position. Kohli has 870 points in the latest rankings. He has returned home after the first Test against Australia due to paternity leave. His wife Anushka gave birth to a daughter on Monday.

Williamson remains on top
Smith is in second place with 900 points while New Zealand captain Kane Williamson is on top with 919 points. Smith had scored 131 and 81 runs in the Sydney Test. Williamson had scored 238 runs in the Christchurch Test against Pakistan.

Rahane ranked 7th
Williamson has also become the Kiwi cricketer with the highest rating points in the ICC rankings. Team India’s acting captain Ajinkya Rahane has dropped one place to seventh.

Rishabh Pant reached 26th position
Rishabh Pant played innings of 36 and 97 runs, on which he jumped 19 places to reach 26th position. Hanuma Vihari is 52nd, Shubman Gill 69th and R Ashwin 89th.

Loss to ashwin
Among the bowlers, off-spinner Ashwin has fallen two places to ninth place while Jasprit Bumrah is down one place to tenth place. Pat Cummins tops the list followed by England’s Stuart Broad.
