Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin wants Pacer Ishant Sharma to create a ‘roadmap’ for India’s emerging fast bowlers by taking 400 wickets in Tests. He described Ishant Sharma 300 Test Wickets as the best in the last 14 years of hard work.
Ishant Sharma is the most experienced player in the current Test team playing his 98th Test match. He became the third Indian fast bowler to take 300 wickets in Test cricket on Monday, after the legendary Kapil Dev (434) and Zaheer Khan (311).

Ashwin said after the fourth day of the first Test against England, “I would like to congratulate Ishant but I want him to prepare a roadmap for India’s future fast bowlers with 400 or maybe 500 wickets”. He said that Ishant is always a happy player and in every circumstance he has a smile on his face.
Ishant is just two Tests away from 100 Tests and he can become only the second bowler in the country to do so. Ashwin, who himself claimed 385 wickets in this long format of cricket, said that the century of Test matches is an achievement in itself.
He said, “Ishant went to Australia (2007-08) and took the wicket of Ricky Ponting. He then went on several tours despite an injury. It is no joke for a fast bowler to play 100 Tests for India and it is a great achievement.
Ashwin said, ‘Ishant is one of the most hard working players of this Indian team. He has to work even harder because he is a tall (6 foot 4 inch) player. During the career, a lot of hard work is required to keep yourself fit. He has been playing for almost 14 years.
