India’s limited-overs specialist players like Vijay Hazare Trophy opener Shikhar Dhawan have been asked to reach Ahmedabad on March 1 ahead of the five-match T20 series against England. Apart from Dhawan, youngsters Ishan Kishan, Surya Kumar Yadav and Rahul Teotia are also participating in the 50-over domestic tournament and are part of the biologically safe environment built in five cities.
The BCCI has selected a 19-member squad for the T20 series starting on March 12 in Ahmedabad. A senior Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) official said on condition of anonymity, “Shikhar has to reach Ahmedabad on March 1 along with other players. as far as we know.
“All the limited overs experts have been asked to play two to three matches so that they stay in rhythm as they have to be part of a second biologically safe environment between the Covid-19rules,” he said.
The T20 series will be played from March 12 to 20, after which the three-match ODI series will be played in Pune from March 23 to 28. The four-match Test series is going 1-1, while the third Test will be played at the newly formed Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera from Wednesday.
