India have kept alive their hopes of reaching the final of the World Test Championship (WTC) after defeating England by 317 runs in the second Test on Tuesday in Chennai. India has now reached number two in the WTC table while England has slipped to fourth place. The WTC finals will be played at Lord’s in June. After the victory at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, India now has 69.7 per cent points and has moved up to number two in the WTC table.

India has so far won 10 Test matches under the World Test Championship, while losing four and drawing one. New Zealand tops the WTC table with 70.0 per cent marks and has already entered the final of the WTC. Australia is at number three with 69.2 percentage points. At the same time, after the defeat in the second Test at the hands of India, England has now slipped to number four and has 67.0 points.

After defeating England in the second Test, India have achieved 1-1 draw in the four-match Test series. If India now defeats England 2–1 or 3–1 in the four-match Test series, it will reach the final of the World Test Championship (WTC).
If England beat India 3-1, then England’s team will reach the final of the World Test Championship. However, if England beat India 2–1, then Australia will reach the final.

But if this four-match Test series between England and India draws 1-1 or 2-2, then Australia will reach the final of the WTC and play the final with New Zealand.
