Former India team opener Gautam Gambhir says that Mohammad Siraj should be preferred over Umesh Yadav in the Pink Ball Test against England (India vs England) needed.
Yadav (Umesh Yadav) has joined the Indian team after recovering from a calf injury. Yadav suffered an injury during the Boxing Day Test match against Australia. Since then, he was engaged in fitness. After passing the fitness test on Monday, he joined the Indian team in Ahmedabad (Motera Test). Shardul Thakur has been released to play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In Star Sports’ program Cricket Connect, Gambhir expressed his opinion when asked if he thought Umesh Yadav fit into the Indian team management for the third Test.
The former batsman said that he would prefer to have Mohammad Siraj (Siraj) in place of Umesh Yadav. He said that apart from this, he will keep Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah as the other fast bowlers in the team.
Gambhir said, ‘I don’t think Umesh Yadav will be in the playing XI (India Playing XI Third Test). If India has to get down with three fast bowlers, then Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj (Siraj) should play. Mohammad Siraj was seen to be quite effective in Australia. In the second Test match also, where there was no help from the pitch for the fast bowler, Siraj was constantly bowling fast. He was quite effective. So I think these three fast bowlers can be seen playing in the third Test match against England.
