- ICC Test Championship without India-Pakistan match doesn’t matter: Waqar Younis
- Former Pakistan captain and veteran Bowler discussing a YouTube channel
- Waqar said – series difficult at the level of government of both countries, ICC should play role
- Fast bowler, this former Pak veteran, praised the Indian fast bowlers fiercely
Former Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis believes the ICC World Test Championship without a match between India and Pakistan is meaningless. There are nine top-ranked Test teams in the World Test Championship, who will play 6 bilateral series against their chosen rivals.
Finally the top two teams will play the final in England in June 2021. Waqar said in an interview to Youtube channel Cricketer, “For Pakistan and India, the situation is difficult even at the government level. But the ICC can play a more active role for this match.
He said, “The ICC should intervene and do something because without a match between India and Pakistan, the Test Championship has no meaning.” India has not visited Pakistan since the 2008 terrorist attack in Mumbai. There has been no bilateral series due to diplomatic and political tensions between the two countries.
Waqar said that due to the strained ties between the two countries, he was able to play only four Tests against India in his 14-year international career. Praising India’s current fast bowlers, he said, “Earlier it was not so but now things have changed.” India have great bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Ishant Sharma and that is why India is doing well in Tests and other formats.
