Menon was selected by the ICC General Manager (Cricket) Geoff Alerdice (President), former player and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar and the selection committee of match referees Ranjan Madugalle and David Boon. Menon was previously part of the Emirates ICC international panel of umpires. In a statement released from the ICC, Menon said, “It is a matter of great honor and pride for me to be named in the elite panel. It has always been my dream to work regularly with the world's leading umpires and referees. ”
