Instagram Good news is coming for users. The company will soon launch a direct version (DM) Option to send. This feature was being tested recently and many users had the option to send direct messages to their followers on the Instagram website as well. This feature can be of great use on Instagram for business, influencers and users who have more access to Instagram on a laptop or PC than a handset.
The company has said that the rollout done in the past was only to test this feature on the web and in the coming time it can be done wide-scale rollout for all users. The direct message feature found on the web will be similar to the DM found in a smartphone app. Users will also be able to create groups on the web, send photos and chat with anyone on the web. Messenger and chat windows are already available on other platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.
Soon Global Rollout
After this feature is activated on this Facebook-owned platform, users will also see notifications of direct messages when they access Instagram on the web. However, the option of sending or receiving videos will not be available on the web like the Instagram app.
Instagram CEO Adam Mossari shared details related to it on Twitter on 14 January. He wrote, ‘For the users who have interest in DM, today we have started testing it on desktop web. Currently, it is being tested with very few users and it can be brought to everyone soon.
Messages will be encrypted
Last year Facebook said that the company Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram direct Like social media is working on merging apps, so that users can get the experience to chat on all platforms simultaneously. Along with this, Facebook is also planning to bring end-to-end encryption for other messaging services like WhatsApp, like Instagram Direct and Facebook Messenger.
