Former South African veteran batsman AB de Villiers (Royal Challengers Bangalore), Pacer Kagiso Rabada (Delhi Capitals), Faf du Plessis (Chennai Sapoor Kings), wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Cock (Mumbai Indians) big names of Indian Premier League (IPL) , But at present there are restrictions on traffic due to increasing cases of corona virus in the country. In such a situation, IPL teams are ready to bring their players directly from there to the UAE Chartered Aircraft.
A franchise official told IANS that this is an idea that has been discussed non-officially and the final decision will be taken only after the IPL Governing Council meeting on Sunday. Only then will the franchisees know about the strategy ahead of the 13th edition.
“We know that South African players are stranded and we will take a decision on them after the IPL Governing Council meeting on Sunday,” the official said. We are not officially discussed and it is not limited to one or two franchises.
He said, 'The top players of almost all the franchises are from South Africa and it would be right for us to take them from the chartered aircraft to the UAE. Whatever expenses will be incurred on this, the franchisees will share among themselves. The final decision will be taken only after the meeting on Sunday.
Agreeing to this, another franchise official said that it is better for each team to send a separate plane for its player, so that it is better for everyone to send an aircraft and call the players to the UAE. The official said, “Why should we send one plane for one player and the other franchise send a different plane for our player?” At the moment when there are traffic restrictions, everyone is moving cautiously. It would be right for us to do a plane together. '
At the same time, BCCI will also send one of its teams to the UAE before the IPL so that it can see the arrangements in the country as the teams want to stay mainly in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The official said, “No one agrees to stay in Sharjah. There are about 15 international chain hotels in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and we are thinking of staying there. We have been told that BCCI is sending teams there before we go to UAE. '
He said, “Nothing is known yet how things will happen because the airline has not started yet and there is an option of chartered aircraft. This is not a problem as it has been happening over the years that if there is some problem in the way of IPL, then the BCCI implements the strategy accurately and ensures that the tournament is played without any hassle.
