Delhi Capitals have captained wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant for the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021). The team’s regular captain Shreyas Iyer has been away from cricket for nearly 5 months due to a shoulder injury.

Shreyas suffered this injury recently during fielding in the first ODI of the 3-match series against England. Delhi Capitals on Tuesday entrusted Pant with captaincy.

The Delhi team has great players like R Ashwin (Ravichandran Ashwin), Ajinkya Rahane, Steve Smith and Shikhar Dhawan. After Pant was made the captain, some people expressed happiness on social media while some compared it to other players.

Pant played a key role in India’s 3–1 win in the Test series against England in which he scored 270 runs in six innings with the help of a century. Pant was in superb form in the ODI series after the T20 International series against England in which he played two matches. In this, he played innings of 77 and 78 runs.
