Australia and England cricketers participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) have requested the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) to reduce the quarantine period of six days to three days after reaching the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They were available for selection from the start of the tournament. In the current limited-overs series between Australia and England, there are 21 players from both countries who will arrive in UAE from Manchester on 17 September in a chartered plane.
Application filed by Saurabh Ganguly
Under the current Quarantine rules, they will be available for selection from September 23, while the tournament will start from September 19. A batsman famous for making big shots has requested BCCI President Saurabh Ganguly on behalf of these players to extend the quarantine period to three days. Ganguly is in the UAE along with other Board officials to oversee the preparations for the tournament. He could not get a response in this matter, but a board source said that such a demand has been made.
So the way to change the rule
The source said, ‘Yes, the BCCI President has received a request. It may have been written by a player, but it makes all England and Australia players agree. These players feel that they are already in a bio-bubble in Australia and then Britain. In such a situation, it would be logical that they be allowed to enter from one bio-bubble to another. Not all of them have come in contact with anyone outside the bio-bubble.

Both teams are playing series with strict rules
The source said, “These players stayed at the Hilton Hotel in both Southampton and Manchester, which is a part of the stadium. He is being tested every fifth day and even on the day of his departure from the UK. There will be an investigation on the first and third days of reaching here. He said, ‘If you look at the security arrangements of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB), the sweepers are also not allowed in the players’ rooms. Apart from this, they will come by a chartered plane, not commercial.
Rajasthan Royals lose the most
He did not say whether the request would be accepted or not, but said, “Their fact is strong that they want to enter from one bio-bubble to another.” This quarantine rule of six days will have an effect on all teams except Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). KKR’s first match is against Mumbai Indians on 23 September. The Rajasthan Royals will suffer the most from this, which is already feeling the lack of Ben Stokes.
Captain and Archer will not get along
If the rules are not changed, Joffra Archer, Jose Butler and Steve Smith will not be part of the squad for the opening match. Sunrisers Hyderabad will have to play the first match without captain David Warner without their opening partner Johnny Bairstow in the opening batting. Chennai Super Kings will not get the services of Josh Hazlewood and Sam Karan in the first two matches.
