Karnataka all-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham had a long-held dream to play under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. And this dream is going to be fulfilled in this year’s Indian Premier League.
Chennai Super Kings have included him in their squad for the IPL 2021 auction. For this, Chennai has paid a whopping Rs 9.25 crore for it.
In the year 2020, Krishnappa was given a bat sign in the UAE in 2020 by his childhood hero Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
How does Gautam feel when he becomes part of the Chennai team. Is there pressure on them to get a big price? Gautam had a special conversation with our colleague Times of India.com on all such questions.
Gautam said, ‘There is not much pressure on me from getting a higher price. I want to get on the field and win the match for my team.
He further said that I have experience of domestic cricket. I do not want to hit the ground with the price tag in mind. I am excited to play under Mahi Bhai’s captaincy and learn from him. Whatever chance I get, I will grab it with both hands.
Gautham was released by Kings XI Punjab before the start of the season. He went to the auction with a base price of Rs 20 lakh. He soon became a favorite of the franchise. The 32-year-old all-rounder saw a lot of excitement in the teams.
Eventually Chennai paid him a price of Rs 9.25. He became the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history.
He said, ‘I played for Rajasthan Royals under Ajinkya Rahane captain and KL Rahul for Kings XI (now Punjab Kings). And now I am very excited to play under the captaincy of Mahi Bhai. I always wanted to be a part of the team that is captained by Mahi Bhai.
