IPL 2021: Robin Uthappa joins Dhoni’s CSK before auction, Rajasthan did trade

Indian legend Robin Uthappa will not be seen playing in the Rajasthan Royals this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He has been traded by Chennai Super Kings under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in a cash deal with Rajasthan Royals. Uthappa will now be seen playing on behalf of CSK.

Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings gave this information on Twitter. Last season, Robin Uthappa was bought by Rajasthan Royals for Rs 3 crore. Uthappa has previously played for Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Pune Warriors and Kolkata Knight Riders.

Uthappa said in this statement – I really enjoyed playing in Rajasthan Royals. It was a good time to be a part of this franchise. I have now joined CSK in the 2021 season of the Indian Premier League.

Uthappa has scored 4607 runs in 189 matches in IPL career at a strike-rate of 129.99. This includes 24 fifties. During this time, Orange Cap was also named in 2014, he had 660 runs in that season. He was part of the KKR team at the time.

However, his performance in the last two seasons has not been very effective. He scored only 282 runs at a strike rate of 115.1 in 2019 and was released from the team by the Knight Riders. After this, in 2020, playing for Rajasthan Royals, he was able to score just 196 runs in 12 matches.
