The Governing Council of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to meet on Sunday. In this, many issues will be discussed regarding the organization of IPL. How will the league be done, what are the guidelines for it, these will be important points of discussion in this meeting. The standard operating procedure (SOPs) for the IPL to be held in the UAE will be finalized in this meeting.

An IPL franchise usually consists of 25–28 players. In addition, there are at least 10 to 15 members of the support staff. Our affiliate newspaper Times of India has come to know that IPL franchisees will have to create their own bio-bubble. This includes arriving in the UAE about a month before the tournament starts. Apart from this, keeping the number of members of your party low can also be an option.

The last time the IPL was played was in UAE in 2014. During that time the teams went with a small team. Typically, franchises relive multiple players in the middle of the season if they are unable to decide the playing eleven.

The Times of India has come to know that the franchise has been asked to limit the number of players to 20. Behind it is to keep the crowd in the dressing room to a minimum. However, the franchisee feels that the number of players should not be reduced.

A senior franchise official said, “If there is talk of reducing the number of teams, then the number of franchise non-playing staff can be reduced only. Some franchisees may leave the final decision on the coach or team management. Even if a limit is imposed, it is better to put the total number.

He further said, 'On match days, it may be that a limit is imposed on the franchisees for the players who take the field. Apart from this, some members of the support staff can also be asked to stay in the hotel itself.

Net Boller is also a challenge

The major challenge for the franchisee is also to provide the right facilities for practice. Providing the right means for practice between such strict rules will not be as easy as the last time. An official said, “That's why the franchise will need more players. The teams will stay in the UAE for about two to two and a half months. It will not be easy for such teams to arrange net bowlers.

Chennai Super Kings to go ahead of other teams

The Chennai Super Kings team will reach Dubai on 10 August. The Times of India has come to know that Kolkata Knight Riders may reach 19-20 August while the rest of the teams can reach till 25 August. A BCCI source said, “Chennai Super Kings have been more active. He has asked the players to be ready and leave on 10 August. But due to delay in SOPs by BCCI, their plan may change.
