IPL governing council meeting will be held on August 1

new Delhi

The Governing Council meeting of the Indian Premier League (IPL) may be held on August 1 to finalize the schedule of the competition to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) this year and other arrangements will be discussed. Due to the Covid-19epidemic, this tournament is being organized out of the country. The tournament will be played from 19 September to 8 November.

“The IPL Governing Council may meet on August 1,” a senior BCCI official told PTI. It is expected that the franchise will be handed over the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) after the meeting. '

The meeting is expected to be attended by top BCCI officials including Chairman Saurabh Ganguly and Secretary Jai Shah. Issues related to various stakeholders will be discussed in it. The tenure of Ganguly and Shah has ended, but both of them have appealed to the Supreme Court for relaxation in the terms of the cooling off period of the Lodha Committee, which will be heard on 17 August.

In this IPL, two matches will be held in a day, which will benefit the broadcasters. The matches will be held in a bio-safe environment in empty stadiums and the loss of 'Get Money' to the franchisees will also be discussed. It is likely that most franchisees will send their investigation teams to the UAE to assess the facilities and bio-safe environment there.

Another issue will be related to allowing players to take families together. A franchise top official said that it would be wrong to keep players away from their wives or family for two months. He said, “At normal times, wives or female friends may come with the players, but the situation is different now.” If the family also goes together then he will stay in the hotel room or can come in normally. He said, “Some players also have small children, so how to keep them in the room for two months.”
