After the postponement of the T20 World Cup to be held this year, the BCCI has started work on the strategy of organizing the IPL. The BCCI plans to host the league in the UAE (IPL 2020 in UAE) this year, given the state of Covid-19 in the country. The Cricket Board of India has now sought the permission of the Government of India to organize this league abroad.

IPL chairman Brijesh Patel said, “The IPL 2020 postponed due to coronavirus will now be held in the UAE. We have sought its approval from the government. We are going to call a meeting of the Governing Council in this regard in 10 days. Will discuss further planning in this meeting.

After the postponement of the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia, the BCCI is moving forward on a plan to organize the league fully. Due to the Covid-19pandemic, the ICC decided to postpone the World Cup tournament. In such a situation, the BCCI is ready to conduct the IPL from the first week of November, starting from September in a bio-safe environment without an audience.

The tournament schedule will also be discussed at the IPL Governing Council meeting. So far there are reports that all the franchisees of the league and the BCCI are ready to conduct all 60 matches of this league.

Brijesh Patel said, 'This time the audience will not be allowed to come to the stadium in this league. So in such a situation it is not important whether the league is being held in India or abroad.

The BCCI had already indicated to all the franchisees that the ICC World Cup was going to be postponed, so it agreed to have the IPL in the UAE and the franchises should start working on it. Franchisees started finding logistic and hotels there since last week and started work on other schemes as well.
