Igor Angulo scored two goals within three minutes to save FC Goa, who were trailing by two goals, against Bengaluru FC on Sunday in the seventh season of Indian Super League (ISL) football. Angulo’s goals in the 66th and 69th minutes put Goa on a 2–2 draw to former champions Bengaluru FC in their first match of the season played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda here.
Earlier for Bengaluru, Clienton Silva scored in the 27th and Spanish defender Juan Antonio Gonzalez Fernandez scored in the 57th minute. Sunil Chhetri, who landed for captaincy in the fourth season for Bengaluru FC, missed a goal in the second minute of the match. Aashiq Kurunian also could not capitalize on an easy goal in the seventh minute. Former champions Bangalore FC were consistently under pressure in the match with 65 percent ball possession and more than 150 passes for the first 25 minutes, benefiting in the form of goals.
Playing his debut match in the ISL, Kline Silva of Brazil scored a brilliant goal in the 27th minute to give Bengaluru a 1-0 lead in the match. Bengaluru scored in the 57th minute with Spain’s Fernandez scoring his 50th match in the ISL on a pass from Eric Paartlu, who led Bangalore to a 2–0 lead. It was difficult for Goa to make a comeback after trailing by two goals in the match.
Spain’s Angulo opened the account of the runner-up twice, scoring a brilliant goal on a pass from Brandon Fernandez in the 66th minute and then scoring another goal in the 69th minute to bring Goa 2–2. The second ball also came with the help of Fernandez. After this, both teams failed to score goals and after the score was 2-2, Bengaluru were forced to share points from Goa.
