Hyderabad FC, after trailing at the start, made a stunning comeback with the help of captain Ariadne Santana’s two goals within a minute to defeat SC East Bengal 3-2 in the Hero Indian Super League (ISL) here on Tuesday. With this win, Hyderabad has moved up to fifth position in the table of 11 teams. He now has nine points. This is East Bengal’s fourth defeat and remains at the bottom of the table with a point.
East Bengal took the lead in the 26th minute thanks to a goal from Jacques Magahoma. In this way, Maghoma became the first player to score a goal for East Bengal in the ISL. Hyderabad got a penalty in injury time but captain Santana could not score. Hyderabad FC looked committed to scoring an equalizer. That is why he intensified the attack as soon as the second half started. He lost a chance in the 54th minute but captain Santana equalized the score in the 56th minute.
Santana did not stop and he immediately scored another goal to put Hyderabad ahead 2–1. Santana scored this goal in collaboration with Liston Colaco. The appearance of the match had changed completely. The teams which were 0–1 behind two minutes earlier had gone 2–1 after two minutes.
Santana scored his fourth goal this season. Halicharan Narjo scored the third goal for Hyderabad in the 68th minute. East Bengal’s Maghomah scored their second goal of the match in the 81st minute to reduce the score to 2-3 but that narrowed the margin of defeat.
