Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), captained by ardent batsman Virat Kohli, once again dreamed of lifting the IPL’s glittering trophy. He suffered a 6-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Qualifier-1 in Abu Dhabi. Captain Kohli blamed the batsmen of his team for this defeat. He also said that if Kane Williamson’s catch was caught, the result of the match would have been different.
At the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, on Friday, RCB scored 131 runs for seven wickets after being invited to bat first. For him, AB de Villiers scored 56 runs. The Sunrisers reached the target in 19.4 overs with an unbeaten 50-run knock from Kane Williamson.

Kohli said after the match, ‘If you talk about the first innings, I don’t think we scored enough. We lost by a slight margin and if we had dismissed Kane (Williamson) then the result would have been different. Overall, we let their bowlers bowl freely and did not keep them under pressure.
Kane Williamson sent Navdeep Saini’s second ball for six in the 18th over of the innings, but the long-standing Devadatta Padikkal saved 5 runs but could not manage to catch this difficult catch. However his effort was appreciated by all. Williamson was then scoring 37 runs.
He said, ‘The last four matches were very strange for us. We played shots directly into Fielder’s hands. Some of our players did well and it was a good season. Devdutt (Padikkal) and (Mohammad) Siraj are among those players. Yuji (Yuzvendra Chahal) and AB (De Villiers) performed well at all times.
Kohli said of this season, ‘This time there was no case of playing on the field of his own or the opposing team. The circumstances were the same for all. You had to show your real strength and probably this was a very competitive season. ‘
