The notice stated that garbage disposal norms were not followed when disposing of non-biodegradable waste, including PPE gear used in the shooting of the film.

Borkar said the Dharma Production film starring Deepika Padukone was being shot at a villa in Samudasut village in Nerul, North Goa and daily garbage was dumped at the site designated by the local Panchayat Authority.

“The waste was disposed of every day by a local contractor appointed by the gram panchayat. It failed to do so only on Sunday, after which the photos went viral,” said Borkar.

On Tuesday, the controversy went viral after Ranaut uploaded pictures of garbage bags filled with garbage.
