Both the Tamil and Hindi films are directed by Raghav Lawrence. Recently, while interacting with ANI, the director revealed why the film was renamed from ‘Kanchana’ to ‘Lakshmi Bomb’. He said, “Our Tamil film was named after Kanchana, the main lead character. Kanchan means ‘gold’ which is a form of Lakshmi. Previously I had considered going for a Hindi remake in a similar way, but we collectively decided that the name should be better for the Hindi audience and better than Lakshmi. “

The director said, “By the grace of God, it had become a film cracker, so we named it ‘Laxmi Bomb’. Just as the explosion of Laxmibai Bomb cannot be missed, the transgender lead character is powerful and radiant. Hence the name fits perfectly.

Emphasizing why the director chose to make the film on transgender, Raghav said that he wanted to tell his story to everyone through Lakshmi. He was quoted as saying by ANI, “I am confident and some transgenders worked on my trust for help.” When I heard her story, I felt that I wanted to tell my story to everyone through a character named Laxmi in this film. After watching the film, the audience will know what I am talking about. “

Talking of making a film with a mainstream Bollywood actor playing the role of transgender on screen for the first time, the director said that he was thankful to the ‘Sooryavanshi’ actor for accepting the role. He said, “After the hana kanchana released in Tamil”, the film received huge appreciation from transgenders. They came straight to my house and blessed me. So, when Akshay sir is playing the role in Hindi, I believe that this message will reach a wider audience as well. My special thanks to Akshay sir for accepting and playing this role. “

The makers released the film’s trailer last week. Check it out here:
