Former Indian opener Akash Chopra has chosen Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the captain of his all-time IPL team. He has given the reason behind giving preference to Mahendra Singh Dhoni over Rohit Sharma that he has faced many heavyweights in the last few years.

Akash chose IPL All-Time XI on his YouTube channel. He also followed the rules while choosing this team and gave place to only four foreign players in his team.

Akash, a cricketer-turned-commentator, chose David Warner over Chris Gayle as his opener. He chose Warner as the basis for consistency in performance.

Akash said, 'David Warner is my first choice as an opener. You may be thinking Chris Gayle, but Gayle's performance is not as consistent as David Warner's. Gayle bats very well but Warner is also not far behind. So, Warner is a foreign player. He is one of the consistent performers.

Akash selected Rohit Sharma as the second opener. He, however, said that at times in the IPL, Rohit Sharma bats in the middle order but there is no reason why the 'Hitman' should not become the opener of this team.

Akash has placed Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli at number three. He said that there is no question on number three, there can be no one other than Virat Kohli here. He said that yes, his team may not have won the IPL title but Kohli is a 24-carat gold.

At number four, he has placed Suresh Raina among the most successful batsmen of IPL. Akash said that both Raina Paes and spin can cope well with the bowling attack.

Akash, who placed AB de Villiers at number five, said that de Villiers has played for Delhi first and then Bangalore. Although his team has not won, but de Villiers has no match.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been selected as the wicketkeeper. Akash Chopra has also made him the captain of his team. He said that Dhoni is a match-winner and his record in IPL is excellent.

Harbhajan Singh has got the number seven spot. Chopra said that at number seven, a batsman usually gets a place and in such a situation he wanted to keep Andre Russell here but that could not be done. Because of this, he is choosing Bhajji. Akash, who placed Sunil Narine at number 8, said that he now has two world-class spinners in his team.

He picked Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jaspreet Bumrah and Lasith Malinga among the three fast bowlers.
